look what i got!

isn't this fun? jeffs grandpa is getting married and is getting rid of the millions of things that he can't/doesn't want to take with him and this is one of the things. i don't know what to do with it. should i sand it and stain it or should i just leave it as is? either way it's so great. not sure yet where i'm going to put it in the house but i'm sure i'll find a place.
when i first saw it i totally thought of little house on the prairie. i just love it.
grandpa told me that the little hole in the top is for the ink well. he said that little boys would dip the little girls pigtails in the ink.

we also got another little green desk and chair that looks like it's from the seventies. tristan needed a desk for his room and it will go perfect. when i bring it home i'll take pictures.

have a great day! :)

It might be worth a lot of money. Not to say that you would sell it. But if you sand it down and stain it, the value would go down a lot. I say just leave it alone. Yah it would look cool brought back to it's origional state, but think of its history.

What a treasure! I'm so excited for you...a bit envious...but happy it found a new home. Love the vintage look as well. It's going to look great in your NEW HOUSE!

Here's a suggestion. So as not to change the original look, you might use a wood oil that will clean, condition and preserve it. and just wash down the metal parts. Might look good with plants on it (artificial perhaps)if you like or old school books etc. which may dissaper. You'll think of something. You are clever that way.

Wow...i'm drooling over that! I'm not sure what your entry way looks like or how much room you have but it might be a cool place to drop keys, a purse, the mail, etc. as you first walk in the house? Just a thought! What a great piece though...you are soooo lucky!
