ch ch ch ch changes

i used to make these blankets for everyone in my ward who was having a baby...and then i moved to arizona. :) there are TOOOOOOOOO many babies being born in one ward at any given time to make one for everyone, so i don't.
this blanket was made for addie by one of my most favorite people on the planet. isn't this fabric to die for? christine and i started making these blankets lots of years back after seeing one that our friend karis had received as a baby gift. we thought it would be super easy and a fun gift to give. and it was.
christine and i have very different ideas about how these blankets should look. her approach is more willy nilly, throw it together and get it over with. it's way faster then my, make sure everything measures up and is perfectly cemetric. it has taken me years but i have finally taken a page out of the, "cristine devaney rag quilt making book" it turns out that it's ok if you have two of the same fabrics right next to each other and it's ok if you cut them different sizes...it's all ok and really anything goes. thanks for the lesson christine, it's only taken...what, 6 years? :)
this blanket was actually my inspiration.
a friend of mine just had a baby and named her olive, so i wanted to pick olive-y fabrics for her blanket. i especially love the colorful, flowery one.

this was a very thought out and planned blanket. my usual.

this was trying something a little different and not so planned out.

and this one was just, put them wherever and hope for the best. it's nice to relax a little and not worry so much about where everything HAS to go. :)
now i feel like i have options. ahhhh that feels good!

i remember when you gave me Emma's blanket...you said you hated the patterns that you choose but just did it anyways.......can i just say that i love her blanket and out of all the ones friends gave me, yours was my favorite! I had to put it up for a bit so it doesn't get too warn out from washing it so much. :)

Ok, I need to know where you and Christine score such beautiful fabrics?? No matter how you put them together, they are made from the heart and still come out gorgeous! You both inspired me so the tradition continues for ladies in my area...although I realize I have yet to make sweet baby girl Addie one, but she probably has enough blankies.

LOVE the olive-y blanet!!
