k here's the thing

jeff has the grossest sense of humor of all time, no really he does. i know that i don't have to explain this to some of you but for the rest of you who have not had the privilege of being graced with such beauty.

it all began very early on in our marriage. it was easter 1998, one month after we were married. i woke up to a trail of whoppers starting in my bedroom, down the hall, past the kitchen and around the corner to find this:

was there ever a cuter easter basket? probably, but knowing jeff this WAS the cutest. a trail of whoppers to the prize...a giant duck with a pile of whoppers at his rear. hilarious!

a few years and two kids later this is the joy that i woke up to. a tiny bunny with a HUGE pile of...well i'm sure you can see. you have to click on this to enjoy and appreciate how he did this. jeff stuck marshmallows together and and then proceeded to melt and paint chocolate on the outside of the marshmallows until he got the desired effect. :) i just want you to know that i am sparing you the picture of me taking a bite out if it. yep i sure did.
and this my friends is our fourth anniversary we didn't have much money and he couldn't afford to buy me flowers so this is what i got instead.

now i understand that some women would be really mad if their husband got them: hot dogs, lemon grass, cheese sticks, slim jims and green onions for a bouquet but those are the women that could NEVER be poor. really you take what you can get.

we also spent an anniversary at a texaco gas station. we filled up our tank, got taco bell from inside and went across the street, parked and ate with our two babies in the back seat, and we didn't spend a penny. how you ask? we used his mothers texaco card. if that isn't a white trash anniversary i don't know what is.

this is mothers day 2007. yes, three days ago. i was upstairs pampering myself (as you can see) and i got called down stairs for an immediate family meeting.

dose this gift give you any indication of our current financial situation? hahaha! (this is just due to excessive travel so don't anybody worry about us WERE FINE!) this is a cake! yep, it is. really. did anyone eat it you ask? well let me tell you what they put in this pretty cake and you tell me if you'd eat it.
1 can of pumpkin
1 can of chicken noodle soup
1 can of olives
2 bags of fruit snacks
5 tbs of rice
10 Chinese noodles that spell out "TO MOM" on top of the "cake"

so would you eat it? yeah, i just threw it in the trash tonight
so really, let me tell you how i really feel. i am so lucky to have a husband who is so creative and is always thinking of new things to surprise me with even if it is sometimes a little gross. it doesn't matter what our financial situation is he always makes sure to let me know in his own special way that he hasn't forgot about me. quite honestly, those things have helped us to laugh our way through some really tough times. i really am lucky!
today try to think of something different about your spouse that only YOU could love and appreciate.
edited: i just noticed how gorgeous i look in ALL of these pictures!

I am glad you didn't eat the cake. Much better than my husband who did nothing for me for mothers day. Well, he did watch the boys while I colored my hair.

I remember the duck Easter and the weener/onion bouquet anniversary. What a guy that Jeff. Good thing I love him in spite of his off-beat humor. The important thing is is that he remembers you, and takes the time to be creative. XOXO to you Jeff
