the not so baby

one of the things that i have to let go of when i have this sweet little girl is the fact that this little girl won't be the baby anymore. it's kind of a hard thing for me. she says she's big and i know that she is but until this baby gets here i still need her to be small...the baby. i asked her if she could let me call her a baby and hold her like a baby and kiss her all over like a baby. because let's be honest there comes a time that kissing them all over becomes just a little weird for everyone. when i do that to the two oldest they love it for a minute and think it's hysterical and then they're done. tatum understands that she is not allowed to be done until i say so. hahahaha!
this is one of her silly smiles but i love that about her. she's so silly!

always posing for the camera and honestly i have no clue where she got that from but she knows just what to do to make us laugh. this was her very first day of preschool.

she requested target for lunch which was weird since we don't ever really go to target but that's what she wanted so that's what she got. :) i squeeze her little legs cause they're still chubby enough and i hold her tiny hands tight because soon they won't be the tiniest, i sniff her little neck and cheeks because soon they won't smell as sweet. i wish we could bottle that stuff. :) i will miss her being the the baby and i'm a little nervous about what her new position in our family will bring out in her. so for now she has agreed to stop calling herself big and is letting me love the heck out of the baby that she still is.

i'm going to miss my BABY tates.

Seriously Stac........so darn adorable. She is such a ham! Emma is becoming the same way, but her hair never looks anything like how crafty you make Tatum's. I love it. Love it. Love it. Lucky you that Tatum will let you love on her, Emma can't wait to get away from kisses.

I can see what you mean. Kassie just turned one and already she is acting like she is two and already I am needing a baby, baby fix. Hunter is growing to fast too.

Stacy, you don't need to worry about it. Even though you are a foot taller than me, you are still my baby. I still need your hugs and kisses. I can't say you still smell as sweet as you did 32 years ago (and you were my sweetest smelling baby) but you are still and always be MY baby. And Tatum will always be yours.

Love, Mother

Hey sister, they grow up way too fast, don't they? I've get sad over that w/ Jacob & Elsa too - sometimes I wish we could just go back in time and enjoy it just a little more. And now with Isa, I am trying to savor it all, even though she's been driving me a little nutty lately. Reading this entry about made me cry, though I have to say, I'm glad you're writing again. I love your writing, it's like a conversation. *sigh*. Well, I think that now I'll wipe that silly tear off my cheek and go grab a handful of chocolate chips from the pantry. ;)

The only part of having a baby that is hard for me, (other than weight gain, no sleep, hormones, losing all your hair, and recovery :) is replacing the baby. It is hard and so sad to watch the baby find their new position. It kills me every time.

I love what you said about her chubby little legs. I LOVE to squeeze livvie. she is so skinny everywhere but her thighs and hands. I love it! Wish it looked as cute on me...

she is such a cute little thing.
i know that feeling of the family dynamic changing and not being ready for it.
i get sad right before each baby comes, but then when it does, we adjust very quickly and it's as though we always had that baby in our home.
